What is happening now?

We have been working on a new Official Community Plan (OCP) to set the long-term vision for managing the city’s growth. We are now in Phase 4 – “Confirming” – which is the final phase of a multi-year process.

Over the past three years, we reached out to community members, Host Nations and Indigenous Peoples, community partners, and others to hear what they love about Burnaby, what they want to change, and what they want for the future to help create Burnaby’s new OCP.

After extensive consultation, a draft OCP is now available for review. We want to hear your feedback to confirm it reflects the community’s values and priorities for the future.

To find out more about how the draft community plan was developed and how we got to this stage, please read the Council Report.

Land Use Map

The parcel-based Land Use Map establishes land use designations for every property in the City. The designations outline the intended future uses for each property. They will be used as a guide if someone chooses to rezone their property.

Some properties have two land use designations. On these properties, future development may include uses from either designation, or a mix of both. For more information see Part B of the draft OCP.

Interactive Land Use Map
With the interactive Land Use Map, you can search for land use designations of specific properties. Find your property, get more details and navigate the online map.
