What's happening now?

We’re developing a 25-year plan to guide how Burnaby delivers parks, recreation and cultural services. The plan will be shaped by input from Council, residents, community groups and other interested parties.

As we’re preparing to launch the next phase of engagement, we want to hear what works well and what needs improvement in Burnaby’s parks, recreation and cultural spaces.

Join a small group discussion

Take part in a facilitated, in-person conversation and share your experiences and priorities during one of two sessions:

  • Sunday March 29, 3 - 5 pm at Temporary Cameron Community Centre
  • Monday, March 30, 5:30 - 7:30 pm at Burnaby Public Library, Bob Prittie Metrotown Branch

Apply by February 22, 2026. Participants will receive a thank-you honorarium.

Spots are limited, sign up here.

The first round of engagement was completed in 2025. Read the What We Heard Report to learn how community feedback helps shape the plan.

About this project

Burnaby is a diverse and fast-growing city. The last long-range plan for parks, recreation and culture was created in 1984. With a changing population and evolving community needs, it’s time to create a new framework that reflects today’s realities and tomorrow’s opportunities.

This long-range plan will help the City deliver services that keep pace with change, work more effectively, and track progress toward long-term community goals. It will also guide how we create and maintain indoor and outdoor spaces, programs and experiences that enrich daily life and foster a strong, connected community.

The long-range plan will help us:

  • build and improve facilities and programs
  • ensure services are inclusive, accessible and sustainable
  • support the health and well-being of all Burnaby residents
