About this project

In 2020, the City of Burnaby launched its first Community Safety Plan. We're updating the plan to continue achieving our vision of a safer Burnaby for all. This update focuses on the issues that matter most to everyone who lives, works or plays in Burnaby: a safe, welcoming, and inclusive community. As part of this effort, we will also develop a gang violence prevention strategy.

There will be many opportunities for community engagement including interactive pop-ups in July and August at various City facilities and public spaces. We’ll also be hosting Community Solution Sessions for everyone to share ideas and develop solutions for enhancing community safety.

Our path to reconciliation

Recognizing the importance of integrating Indigenous Peoples’ perspectives into our civic planning, we will be engaging with the host Nations on whose traditional, ancestral and unceded territory the City of Burnaby is located on, as well as Indigenous Peoples living in Burnaby. We will be engaging to discuss the City’s ongoing Community Safety Plan Update and incorporating Indigenous Peoples feedback and input into the plan.

Thank you for sharing your voice!

Thank you to all who gave provided their feedback and attended Community Solutions Sessions. The engagement period for this project is now closed and we are currently reviewing the results.
