About this project

In the 2009 Central Park Management Plan, it was recognized that the large area of lawn (known as the “Triangle”) northeast of the SkyTrain and BC Parkway and bounded by Kingsway and Patterson Avenue would accommodate active recreational activities to meet the needs of the growing community. With support from Council, the provision of a destination playground, civic plaza, flexible open lawn spaces, washrooms, and concession facilities in the Central Park Triangle will create an anchor and context for a vibrant long-term vision of this currently under-utilized corridor.

As part of our mission to create a vibrant and inclusive community hub, we invite you to share your thoughts and ideas to help shape the future of Central Park. Take the Phase 1 survey before June 30, 2024.

This survey is administered by the City of Burnaby. Personal information collected and used for the purpose of receiving information regarding the Central Park Master Plan. It will be managed in accordance with s. 26 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. All personal information collected through this survey will remain confidential and de-identified when shared with the public. Central Park (at Patterson SkyTrain Station)

What's happening now

Site analysis has been completed and conceptual spatial program layout has been drafted. Public engagement on Phase 1 has recently completed and we are currently analyzing the results. Thank you for sharing your voice! We're committed to making additional efforts to actively engage with residents and current users and gather feedback from community members. If you have any questions or feedback, please contact us at 604-908-0493 or centralpark@burnaby.ca.

Phase 2 will have a comprehensive planning process with multiple stages to cover larger and more complex sections of the park, including major facilities (i.e., Swangard Stadium and Central Park Outdoor Pool). The 2 phases will ultimately be consolidated into a single final document with an implementation plan.
